How to Use astro-seek for Astrocartography (and What It Misses)
Seven Arabic Lots on one free map. Fortune, Spirit, Necessity, Eros. Courage, Victory, Nemesis round out the set. No other free calculator I have tested plots even one of them.
I am Grigor. Fifteen years inside natal charts and locational astrology. Developing and printing astrocartography maps is now my trade. Along the way I bought every published book in this small field. Then the video courses, then several paid software packages. Astro-Seek still earned a permanent browser tab, since the free tool quietly out-plots half the paid ones. This page walks the astro-seek astrocartography tool the way I actually use it. Then the parts no checkbox can switch on.
Where the astro-seek Astrocartography Map Lives
Type astro-seek.com into a browser and you land in the wrong place. The calculator sits on a subdomain, at horoscopes.astro-seek.com, under a page titled AstroCartography Chart, Astro Map Online Calculator. People end up pasting the entire URL into Google instead. Astroseek, astro seek, Astro-Seek.com. Every spelling still lands on the same tool.
Birth date, birth time, birth city. Time matters down to the minute. One hour of rounding swings the four angle lines by hundreds of miles. Manual latitude and longitude fields wait underneath for villages the atlas cannot find. Timezone resolves automatically, though a manual override exists for daylight saving oddities.
What the Free Map Actually Plots
Ten planets get lines, Sun through Pluto. The Lunar Node joins them. So do Lilith and Chiron, two bodies the free astro.com map never draws. Then the seven Lots for the traditionalists. Each body plots four lines, one per angle of your birth chart. Astro-seek labels the angles ASC, DESC, MC, IC. Conjunction lines also come standard. Aspect lines to the MC and IC switch on separately, off by default.
Click any line and the details surface in place. A planet-set dropdown trims the clutter down to the seven traditional planets. Astro-seek drew the longest body list when I lined up every free astrocartography chart tool side by side.
Zodio, Mundo, and Why Maps Disagree
A three-year-old Reddit thread still ranks on page one for this tool, asking one thing. Why do astro.com and astro-seek draw different lines from the same birth data? One overlooked dropdown holds the real answer.
Zodio projects the lines from the ecliptic. Astro-seek notes on the form that these lines match a relocation chart one to one. Mundo calculates with latitude instead. Those lines track what the sky physically shows over each city. Same birth, two defensible maps. AstroClick Travel on astro.com draws its own projection without asking. That single difference makes the two sites disagree on screen. I wrote a separate walkthrough of astro.com for that tool. My rule after fifteen years stays simple. Pick one projection, read every location through it, stop comparing screenshots.
A zodiac dropdown hides lower on the form too. Tropical is the default, with Lahiri and two dozen sidereal options behind it. Vedic readers get their astrocartography map without leaving the page. Nothing on astro.com matches that.
The astro-seek Relocation Chart Is a Different Tool
Astro-seek offers one too, a single link away. Different math though. An astrocartography map projects your planetary lines across the whole planet at once. A relocation chart recasts the entire natal wheel for one chosen city instead. I moved from Kazakhstan to Canada at 24, a twelve-hour flip across the globe. The world view showed which continents held which lines. A relocated wheel would have shown how Calgary restructured my houses. My work is astrocartography. The relocation chart is a companion tool. Some people run both. The pairing works.
A Relocation ASC and MC Finder sits beside these two, hunting where a chosen rising sign takes over. No other free site offers it.
Parans, Lilith, and the Settings Nobody Explains
Paran lines run horizontally, at the latitudes where two lines hit the angles together. Astro-seek draws them on request, in three modes, with a definition quoted from skyscript.co.uk inside the form. A checkbox, a tooltip, zero advice on why anyone should care. My coach taught me to treat paran crossings with respect, since two planets concentrate onto one narrow band there. The tool hands you the where. Why it matters stays your homework.
A local space map sits one link away as well. Compass directions radiate from a single address there, rather than lines wrapping a globe. City-level work runs on that second tool. My favorite mechanic works where my Jupiter and Mars directions meet, near the Calgary airport. Big luck plus big mechanisms. The global view would never resolve anything at that scale.
What astro-seek Will Not Tell You
More settings than any rival. Still the same silence at the end. Placement arrives in seconds. Meaning never loads. Generic descriptions exist across the site, written once for every visitor. Your Saturn is not the next person’s Saturn. No calculator calibrates a line against your own past.
Midpoints stay missing too. My home sits between my Sun line and my Jupiter line, inside the band where the two blend. That band decided the address. No free calculator ever drew it for me. I plot midpoints by hand on every printed map for exactly that reason.
Scale is the third gap. One world projection, one screen, lines thicker than entire metro areas at that zoom. A line that seems to clip your town can miss by a hundred miles. The last gap is the object itself. Screenshots still die quietly in downloads folders. A map on the wall keeps asking to be read.
My Six-Level Reading After the Map Loads
Start global, on the astro-seek map itself. Then country, then province, then city. The floor plan comes fifth. Last comes the seat on the plane. Matryoshka dolls, one scale nested inside the next. The lines never change between levels. Only the resolution does.
Calibration comes before any forecast. Pick five past events that mattered, a move, a job change, one relationship. Find each city on the screen. Note the nearest line, since past events are how a line proves its character. My first attempt skipped all of that. A paid reading from another astrologer, ordered before my own move, answered my questions thinly. So I learned to read the lines myself, book by book. The full method now lives in my guide to reading your map. Free calculators cover level one. The other five levels are where the decisions actually happen.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the astro-seek astrocartography map free?
Free, all of it. Lines, parans, local space, relocated wheels. Money never enters the calculator anywhere. An account is optional, only storing your birth data for the next visit.
Why does the astrocartography calculator live on horoscopes.astro-seek.com?
Astro-Seek splits its tools across subdomains. The horoscopes subdomain carries the calculators. Nobody remembers the path, so the full URL gets retyped into Google.
What birth data does the astro-seek map need?
Date, clock time, birthplace. Minutes matter here, and coordinates accept manual entry for villages the atlas misses. An unknown birth time weakens every angle line beyond trusting, however.
Does astro-seek draw Chiron and Lilith?
Both, each behind its own checkbox. Seven Arabic Lots and the Lunar Node join them. That body list beats every free rival I have tested, astro.com included. Parans also come as a separate option, in three modes.
Do I need the relocation chart or the astrocartography map?
Different jobs. The map compares the entire planet at a glance. A relocation chart examines one city in depth, house by house. Shortlist with the map first. Then run relocation charts for the two or three finalists.
Why does my astro-seek map disagree with astro.com?
Projection, almost every time. Astro-seek lets you choose Zodio or Mundo. AstroClick never asks. Zodiacal lines match the relocated wheel. Mundo lines match the visible sky. The birth data stays identical.
Which astro-seek settings should a beginner use?
Default planet set, Zodio projection, parans off. Read the ten planetary lines first, since those carry most of the signal. The exotic switches can wait a year. This tool rewards patience more than configuration.
Can a free astro-seek map decide a move?
It can shortlist one. The lines show where the pressure sits, though the meaning still depends on your chart and your history. I would not sign a lease on line placement alone. Neither should anyone.
What is the best astrocartography line for career?
Usually an MC line. Your Midheaven carries public standing in locational astrology, so a planet parked there drags work into daylight. Jupiter and Sun get named most. Saturn MC builds slower reputations that hold. Past addresses still outrank the theory. Every Astrotopographer print marks those crossings by hand.
One Free Map, and What Comes After
Astro-seek gives away more astrocartography than some paid software on my drive. I still open it weekly, mostly for quick checks between print runs. The gap was never the plotting. Meaning takes a reader, midpoints take a pencil, a wall takes a printed astrocartography map. Mine hang at 24 by 36 inches, developed and printed by hand, with the midpoint bands drawn in. Start free on astro-seek, the way I started inside the wider astrocartography framework. My part is to offer. Your part is to refuse or agree.
